The German company Rheinmetall introduced the Skyranger 30 air defense system to the representative of Ukraine.
The company stated that they briefed the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, Oleksiy Makeev, on the capabilities of this air defense system.
Rheinmetall representatives highlighted the system’s capabilities in combating drones.
“Ambassador Oleksiy Makeev learned about the impressive capabilities of the Skyranger system, especially in the field of protection against drones,” Rheinmetall said.
The updated, promising air defense system Skyranger 30 was presented at the ILA2024 exhibition in Berlin.
Recently, the system received the SADM anti-drone missile launcher, which was developed by MBDA.
In addition, depending on tactical needs and the required range of targets, the Skyranger can be equipped with a 35×228 KDG gun or a 30×173 KCE gun.
Both guns are characterized by high rate of fire, excellent accuracy and air explosion ammunition.
These capabilities provide the system to shoot down various aerial targets, including drones of various types.
At the same time, MBDA adapted a missile from the Enforcer portable missile system for the Skyranger system.
The missile is adapted for use in air defense systems to engage air targets, as it incorporates a remote detonation mode for indirect damage, as well as a thermal imaging homing head.
The German company added that Austria, Hungary, Germany, and Denmark have already decided to purchase the Skyranger system. Furthermore, Ukraine may also be added to this list in the future.
