The first healthcare facility in the Defense Ministry system received the status of a reintegration center for servicemen released from captivity.
Defense Minister Rustem Umierov reported that the medical facility operates in the central region.
The Center is already providing medical, rehabilitation, and psychological assistance to our heroes after they return from captivity.
The healthcare facility received this status by order of the Ministry of Defense.
It also provides reintegration activities and assistance in obtaining certificates and restoring documents.
It is currently designed for 100 beds, with the possibility of expanding to 200 or more by adding rehabilitation beds.
According to Umierov, the first proposals and suggestions have already been received from the military and medical staff. He assured all of them will be considered by the Defense Ministry’s Health Department.
“This is a new stage in our work, and we are improving it daily in cooperation with the Office of the President, the Government, and relevant agencies,” the Defense Minister shared.
Back on March 15, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the Procedure for Reintegration, Adaptation, and Support of Ukrainian Military and Civilians Released from Captivity, developed at the initiative of the Coordination Headquarters.
The Coordination Headquarters has been consistently working to facilitate the reintegration and post-isolation support of the Ukrainian defenders.
Support will also be provided to family members of former prisoners of war to overcome difficult life circumstances and minimize negative consequences.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine also plans to launch a new mobile application called Veteran+ in the future. It will allow veterans to use electronic services to obtain information about services, benefits, employment, and loyalty programs.
