Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced the details of the Ramstein-5 meeting of the partner countries at the level of defense ministers.
In particular, he said that in Ukraine it is planned to develop a three-level system in the field of air defense.
The countries also agreed to intensify efforts in training the Ukrainian military.
“We cannot reveal all the details at the moment. But among the most important priorities there is a development of a three-level air/missile defense system. A clear vision in this regard was formed thanks to successful actions and based on the experience of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces under the command of Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, whose arguments I made to partners,” Reznikov wrote.
According to him, in addition to the issues considered regarding air/missile defense, it was not less important that Ukraine had already received GEPARD anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery installations from Germany.
“Our specialists are completing their training at the modern German Iris-T air defense system, which will soon make our sky safer. A fundamental decision was made on the Nasamas systems. Not to mention armored vehicles and a large amount of other assistance. This happened in only 4.5 months,” the minister said.
The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that Ukraine has already received hundreds of units of 105mm and 155mm artillery and ammunition for them.
“Only 155mm caliber we have 7 types of guns and self-propelled howitzers. Ukrainian soldiers terrify the enemy with accurate and irresistible strikes made with M142 Himars, M270 and MARS II. HARM missiles are already leaving the enemy without radars,” Reznikov notes.
In addition, the Minister drew attention to the fact that the level of training of Ukrainian fighters has been brought to a new range.
“In the context of long-term support, the task of training Ukrainian fighters has been brought to a qualitatively higher level. The range of our needs is wide from obtaining individual skills to training as part of battalions, as well as training brigade headquarters staff,” the minister said.
An effective training program launched by the UK, which was supported by Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, New Zealand and Spain, is already in operation.
“At the “Ramstein-5″, I requested to consider launching similar training programmes in other neighboring countries. This will ensure the scaling of the training process, we will get more trained troops in a short time,” Reznikov said.
