The drone operators of the 413th ‘Raid’ Battalion of the Unmanned Systems Forces have destroyed a Russian Osa air defense system.
This was reported on the official Telegram page of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
The defeat of the Russian anti-aircraft missile system took place in the Vuhledar direction, in the battalion’s area of responsibility near the village of Bohoiavlenka, the Donetsk region.
The military used the American Switchblade 600 loitering munition to destroy the system, which successfully hit the system.
The Russians use the OSA-AKM air defense system in the frontline area and on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine to protect their troops and important facilities from aircraft and missiles.
This is an all-weather Soviet system that is fully armed with six 9M33M3 anti-aircraft guided missiles. The range of an air target is 1.5-10 km, and the altitude is from 10 to 5000 meters.
At the same time, the Ukrainian military has repeatedly destroyed these systems using various weapons.
In addition, data from the Oryx service shows that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the Russians have lost 15 Osa systems as destroyed, 5 damaged, 1 abandoned on the battlefield, and 4 more machines captured by Ukrainian troops.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that Ukrainian unmanned maritime drones had delivered FPV strike drones to the enemy’s coast, which had hit two Russian air defense systems.
According to the volunteer, the operation to destroy air defense systems in the deep rear of the Russian invaders was carried out by the Ukrainian Navy in cooperation with the SSU.
First, naval drone carriers delivered the FPV drones by sea to the location of the operation.
After that, the external pilots of the drones detected and destroyed the OSA-AKM and Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile systems.
