The 413th Regiment ‘Raid’ of the Unmanned Systems Forces used an FPV drone to destroy a Russian 9K33 Osa-AKM air defense system.

The video was posted on the regiment’s social media.

The footage captures an FPV drone slowly approaching the anti-aircraft system and striking the radar array. The system is likely to be out of commission for an indefinite period of time and will be sent from the front for repair.

Osa is a Soviet anti-aircraft missile system designed to protect troops from air attacks at low and medium altitudes.

The development of the system began in 1960 in the USSR, and it was adopted in 1971. The 9K33M3 Osa-AKM modification appeared in the 1980s as an improved version with improved noise immunity and new missiles.

The system’s radar is capable of detecting targets at a distance of up to 45 km, tracking them and providing missile guidance. The kill zone is from 1.5 to 10 km in range and from 25 to 5,000 meters in altitude. The main armament is six 9M33M3 guided missiles weighing 126 kg with a 15 kg warhead.

Recently, the Russian invaders have started to equip the Osa-AKM systems with outdated Soviet 9M33M naval version missiles. They are easily recognizable by the absence of a transport and launch container.
