The Ukrainian military has struck the Russian 2S4 Tyulpan heavy mortar.

Footage of the work of the Ukrainian servicemen was published by Ukrainian blogger and volunteer, Serhii Sternenko.

The heavy mortar was destroyed by the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great.

The fire was adjusted with a reconnaissance drone, which had been handed over to the brigade by volunteers.

“Another of many examples of how your donations bring victory closer,” Sternenko said.

At the time of destruction, the 2S4 240mm self-propelled mortar was in a fighting position.

After the strike, the top part of the vehicle caught fire.

Presumably, the fire mission was conducted by the artillery group of the brigade, which is armed with barrel and rocket artillery.

Recently, the brigade commander, Colonel Oleksandr Okhrimenko, said that some soldiers of various specialties of the brigade had already completed training in operation of Western equipment, and some were still studying abroad.

Regarding the use of Western models of equipment, the commander noted: “There is equipment that is being supplied, and we perform tasks on this combat equipment.”

These 2S4 Tyulpan heavy mortars are actively portrayed in Russian propaganda videos as “fearsome” weapons.

Also, the mortars were used by the Russian military during the assault on the Luhansk airport in 2014 and during the assault on the Azovstal plant during the battles for Mariupol in 2022. However, from time to time, the Ukrainian military manages to destroy these installations.
