A video of Russian tank mock-ups, which are easily identifiable due to the poor quality of the workmanship, has been posted online.

These mock-ups of tanks were discovered in one of the frontline areas.

The Ukrainian operator of the reconnaissance drone could easily determine that these were fake tanks.

The Russians placed three mock-ups of tanks in an open area between a forest close to the railroad and the highway.

They were likely placed there intentionally so that Ukrainian intelligence could easily spot them and spend expensive high-precision munitions to destroy them.

However, the invaders’ plan failed. When a Ukrainian drone approached these mock-ups, it became clear that these were fake tanks. The Russians are using them as decoys.

According to the footage, the Russians used either inflatable or frame mock-ups with stretched fabric or other material. They have the appearance and dimensions of a real tank.

No tracks on the ground were detected near these Russian mock-ups, which is also one of the indicators that this was fake equipment.

It is worth noting, however, that Russians sometimes artificially create such tracks on the ground to make things look more realistic. Therefore, operators of reconnaissance drones should be aware of, among other things, such tricks that the enemy uses to try and outsmart Ukrainian defenders.

Mock-ups

Militarnyi previously reported that the Russian troops use inflatable tanks to mislead Ukrainian intelligence officers.

Back in 2013, it was reported that the Russian army began purchasing inflatable mock-ups of tanks, aircraft, and missile systems. These included mock-ups of the T-72 and T-80 main battle tanks.

It is worth noting that mock-ups of military equipment have been used on the battlefield for a long time around the world. Their main task is to deceive the enemy to misinform them about the availability of forces and means and to divert attention from real military equipment and protect it from attacks.
