Ukraine received 5,000 Starlink satellite communication terminals from Poland.
The Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on his Facebook page.
According to the minister, the terminals will be used for the needs of critical infrastructure facilities and to improve the communication efficiency of Ukrainians.
“Our Polish friends handed over 5,000 Starlinks to Ukraine.” This will help Ukrainians to always be in touch and critical infrastructure objects to work in the most difficult conditions.
I am very grateful to the Secretary of State for Digital Affairs of Poland, Janusz Cieszyński, for such an important step,” Fedorov wrote.
Starlink is a project of US-based SpaceX to develop a satellite platform for manufacturing communication satellites and launching a large number of them into space.
The system provides access to broadband internet access anywhere on the planet.
The system is connected with small terminals that have phased antenna arrays and track satellites.
Terminals can be installed wherever they can establish a direct connection with satellites.
At the beginning of February 2022, SpaceX offered satellite Internet with increased speed.
As previously reported, the Pentagon studies Starlink’s experience in countering Russia’s EW.
Russians were trying to jam the Starlink terminals through electronic warfare; after a software update, Starlink managed to resume operating normally.
