The Dąb-Poligon training center has started training on countering UAVs based on the MEROPS system.
The Polish military is practicing working with modern interceptor drones, the Polish Armed Forces reported.
Earlier, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, reported that the American MEROPS anti-drone systems, developed by the company of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, had already arrived in the country.
The training includes detection, classification, and suppression of enemy drones.
The solution is used specifically for the compact MEROPS systems that Poland received earlier.
MEROPS ensures operation in conditions of jamming of communication channels and navigation of UAVs.
The command emphasizes the growing role of countering drones in modern operations.
General Marek Sokolowski called C-UAS a critical capability for Polish forces.
The training is conducted by US instructors as part of the Eastern Sentry program.
The program is aimed at strengthening the defense of NATO’s eastern flank.
The military is also practicing the interaction of UAVs with ground units.
Such exercises allow the military to adapt to the realities of the modern battlefield, where drones and electronic warfare play a crucial role.
The command emphasizes that the Dąb-Poligon training is part of a comprehensive training program and will be expanded in 2025.
