The 16th Mechanized Division of the Polish Army has received a new batch of Homar-K multiple launch rocket systems.

This is reported by Defence 24 with reference to the 16th Mechanized Division’s account on X.

The first deliveries to the 16th Mechanized Division occurred in mid-August, when four systems had already arrived at the unit.

The number of vehicles transferred this time was not disclosed, but at least three launchers can be seen in the photo.

According to Defence 24, the new vehicles are likely to be based on 12 combat modules that were delivered from Korea in June 2024. Another 12 modules were delivered to Poland in September.

At the moment, Poland has components for a total of 42 Homar-K systems, with over 20 of them already assembled.

Homar-K MLRS

Homar-K is a Polish version of the South Korean K239 Chunmoo MLRS. Initially, a contract was signed for the supply of 218 MLRS units. But additional 72 vehicles were ordered in April 2024.

The system received a Polish Jelcz chassis and a Topaz fire control system.

It is also envisaged that, in addition to Korean 239 mm CGR-080 precision-guided missiles with a range of up to 80 km and CTM-290 tactical ballistic missiles with a range of up to 290 km, the vehicles will be equipped with Polish 122 mm unguided missiles in transport and launch containers developed by WZL-2.

In addition, the contract provides for the establishment of a service center for combat modules in Poland and the production of spare parts for them.

On September 4, 2024, during the MSPO 2024 exhibition, a memorandum was signed between the WB Group and Hanwha Aerospace on the construction of a new missile production plant in Poland. The memorandum concerns the production of high-precision CGR-80 missiles with a 239 mm caliber.

According to Defence 24, negotiations on licenses, technology transfer and know-how required to start production of CGR-080 239mm missiles are still ongoing. The transfer of these competencies is expected to take place after the signing of the next agreement with Hanwha Aerospace.
