Poland expressed its desire to start training the Ukrainian military, which will serve the F-16 fighter jets.
General Bogdan Pidanty, Chief of the Military Foreign Affairs Department of the Ministry of National Defense of Poland, told the Suspilne media.
“The desire to train pilots for the F16 was expressed by the countries that will directly send these fighter jets to Ukraine. This regards the Netherlands and Denmark,” Bogdan Pidanty said.
According to the General, one aircraft requires approximately ten maintenance personnel.
That is why Poland focuses on this type of training. Bogdan Pidanty added that the country is ready to start training.
At the same time, Pidanty did not specify how long the training could last, saying only that everything would depend on which modifications of the F-16 fighters it would take place on.
It is worth noting that the F-16s will not change the situation this summer. First of all, because it takes time to train the Ukrainian military.
Ukraine must negotiate with partners to provide engineers and technicians for the maintenance and repair of these aircraft.
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren recently announced that Ukrainian pilots could start their training to fly F-16 fighter jets as early as this summer.
In the first wave of training, Ukraine will delegate 24 pilots to master the F-16 fighter jets.
Sending Ukrainian pilots abroad for F-16 pilot training will take place in several stages. The list is already made.
The coalition will also set up an F-16 training center for Ukrainian pilots.
