Poland has raised 100% of the funds needed to buy Bayraktar TB2 strike drone for the Ukrainian military.
This was announced by Sławomir Sierakowski, the fund raising initiator, public figure, political scientist, and journalist.
More than 200 thousand people donated to the “Buy Bayraktar for Ukraine” campaign on the crowdfunding platform Zrzutka.pl.
“22 500 000 PLN! Made in Poland,” wrote Sławomir Sierakowski briefly.
Sierakowski noted that despite achieving the goal of the campaign, fundraising will last for several more days, since there are a large number of people who want to join it.
According to him, on Sunday so many people wanted to join the campaign by the end that the platform’s servers shot down three times.
Sierakowski added that the excess of funds collected as part of the campaign will be transferred to the account of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the National Bank of Ukraine.
Recently, another fundraising campaign was launched in Norway to also buy Turkish Bayraktar strike drone for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Canada also supported the initiative of European states in raising funds to purchase military equipment to protect Ukraine.
The Bayraktar TB2 drone from Lithuania named Vanagas (Hawk) has already arrived in Ukraine. It was crowdfunded by the citizens of Lithuania.
Bayraktar TB2 is a Turkish-made medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicle.
It is made by the Turkish company Baykar Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., primarily for the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.
