In Krasnik, the Head of the Polish Ministry of National Defense launched a campaign for the voluntary military service.
This is announced in a statement by the Ministry of Defense of Poland.
On this occasion, in 32 settlements of Poland, the military picnics under the slogan “Join the voluntary military service” were organised.
In addition, 70 recruitment points were set up throughout Poland.
“The adoption of the Law on the Defense of the Motherland is a very important event for the Polish Armed Forces. We all know perfectly well what is happening behind our eastern border, we are aware of the threats. These threats are real: Russia has attacked Ukraine, there ia a war going on beyond our border,” said Mariusz Blaszczak, Minister of National Defense.
The goal is to increase the number of soldiers in the Polish army to 300,000, including 250,000 professional soldiers.
The new type of service should become an effective mechanism for increasing the number of Polish troops and the reserves, which will be trained to use the arms.
This year, 15,000 positions are available for conscripts.
Recruits will first go through a month-long basic training period within a military unit.
They will be performing 11 months of specialist training.
After completing voluntary service, they will be able to join the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces, active reserve, or professional military service. Each volunteer will receive a salary of PLN 4,560 (USD 1,040), will have priority in recruitment for professional military service and work in public administration, and will have the opportunity for further professional development.
As previously reported, the U.S. Department of Defense is analyzing the possibility of faster delivering the Abrams tanks to Poland. This regards to acceleration of deliveries of new vechicles, as well as transfer of available onwa before the final version would be manufactured.
