The Polish defense industry developed a new WARMATE 5.0 strike UAV.

This was reported to Militarnyi by the defense concern Grupa WB.

The WARMATE strike drones have been in service with the Polish Armed Forces for several years and are also exported to Ukraine, Georgia, and another unnamed NATO customer.

It should be noted that the unmanned system is constantly being modernized and the parameters of the data transmission channel and control station are being improved, the software is being changed, and new modifications of warheads are being introduced.

“The system has proven to be quite successful, including for export. We have potential foreign customers,” Lukasz Miazgowski, international business development manager at Grupa WB, shared.

In addition to the small WARMATEs, called 1.0 and 3.0, there is a WARMATE 5.0 version that is equipped with a five-kilogram warhead.

The WARMATE 5.0 is an analog of the Russian Lancet loitering munition. Polish Armed Forces are currently purchasing it as part of the Gladius program.

The strike drone is used to attack a wide range of targets, including command posts, anti-aircraft missile positions, and other important targets.

“That is, radar systems, electronic warfare systems, air defense systems, positions, so to speak, of enemy concentration around training centers or points of troop concentration,” Lukasz Miazgowski noted.

The system will also receive improvements that will allow the integration of advanced artificial intelligence, which will provide a high level of information processing to discover priority targets.

In Ukraine, WARMATE is used in conditions of strong signal jamming.

“You can clearly see in the video that the system works without GPS or GNSS, there is only video guidance, and this is also one of its unique features,” Miazgowski says.

The system is also equipped with “machine vision,” which allows the system to independently point at the target.

“The system has an advanced audio tracker, which also allows attacking moving targets or those that are trying to escape from the position under certain conditions,” Miazgowski noted.

Militarnyi previously reported that the WB Group developed a Warmate 20 long-range unmanned aerial strike system.

This is the first long-range drone presented by a Polish manufacturer that has a long history of cooperation with Ukraine.
