Pokrovsk Counter-Offensive: 160 Square Kilometers Liberated

During the Pokrovsk counter-offensive, Ukrainian troops liberated seven settlements and eliminated more than 1,300 Russian invaders.

Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported this to Volodymyr Zelensky, who visited the command post of the Air Assault Troops in the Donetsk region.

Since the beginning of the operation, Ukrainian forces have liberated 160 square kilometers in the areas of Pokrovsk and Dobropillia, and more than 170 square kilometers have been cleared of the invaders. Seven settlements in the area have been liberated, and nine more have been cleared of Russian presence.

The troops also managed to significantly replenish the exchange fund by capturing almost a hundred Russian soldiers. At the same time, according to the President, the invaders are suffering significant losses.

“Any group of invaders trying to enter here is destroyed by our guys. The losses of Russians since the beginning of this counter-offensive operation, only in the Pokrovsk area, only in these weeks have already amounted to more than two and a half thousand, of which more than 1300 Russians have been killed,” Volodymyr Zelensky reported.

It is reported that the 7th Corps of the Airborne Assault Troops, which includes the 25th, 77th, 79th, and 81st Airborne Brigades, as well as the 78th Airborne Assault Regiment, operates in the Pokrovsk area. In August, its units cleared out Russian infantry that had infiltrated the city.

At the same time, the 1st Azov Corps was redeployed to the area, and together with its attached units, it stopped a 15-kilometer breakthrough in the direction of Dobropillia and cut off part of the “ledge.”

In mid-August, an operation to eliminate the ledge began. On August 16, units of the 93rd Kholodnyi Yar Brigade recaptured the villages of Hruzke and Vesele, which were at the forefront of the enemy’s advance, from the Russians.

A week later, on August 24, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported a successful counterattack and clearing of Mykhailivka, Zelenyi Hai, and Volodymyrivka.

At the end of August, it was reported that some assault units were participating in the operation. Soldiers of the 253rd Arey assault battalion captured a group of Russian soldiers near Volodymyrivka.

In early September, assault groups of the 425th Skelya regiment liberated the village of Novoekonomichne on the left flank of Pokrovsk. They reported the clearing of Udachne on the right flank of the Pokrovsk agglomeration.

In June, Militarnyi reported that the Russians had formed the largest group in this area, about 111,000 personnel.

In September, the command of the 7th Airborne Forces Corps reported the detection of Russian marine units, namely the 155th and 40th Brigades, as well as the 177th Regiment. Together with them, the 11th Airborne Brigade and units from the 76th Airborne Division arrived in the area. All of them were redeployed from the Sumy and Kursk directions.
