To date, the United States and our allies and partners have collectively committed more than $126 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh announced this at a briefing on January 8.

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group has also been critical in bolstering Ukraine’s defense capability and building a credible deterrence force so that it can defend against future aggression.

“To date, the United States and our allies and partners have collectively committed more than $126 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022,” Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary shared.

Sabrina Singh added that representatives of the countries will discuss Ukraine’s immediate battlefield needs and longer-term defense requirements at the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which will take place on Thursday, January 9, at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

The Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary noted that the meeting will focus “on key capabilities Ukraine needs.”

In particular, air defense systems, artillery ammunition, and armored vehicles, as well as efforts to enhance the defense industrial base.

Previously, Voice of America correspondent Carla Babb reported that the White House will announce a new military aid package for Ukraine on January 9.

This package will be the last for the administration of US President Joe Biden. Sources noted that it will be in the amount of $500 million.

Thus, about $3.8 billion more for the PDA program will remain unused despite the White House’s promises to spend the entire amount by the end of Biden’s term.

According to the Pentagon, these funds will be transferred to the administration of US President Donald Trump after his inauguration on January 20.

Prior to that, on December 30, the US government announced the allocation of almost $2.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
