A number of NATO countries to announce soon the supply of heavy armored vehicles to Ukraine to fight the Russian aggressor.

During a briefing, John Kirby, US Defense Department Spokesman, stressed that the supply of weapons, namely tanks, will begin immediately, Ukrinform reports.

However, a Pentagon spokesman did not specify other details.

It was also reported yesterday that the United States allocates additional $800 million in military assistance for Ukraine.

This includes artillery and ammunition, armored vehicles, and helicopters.

“While Russia is preparing to focus its invasion in the Donbas region in Eastern Ukraine, the U.S. would continue providing Ukraine with the tools to defend itself. This new package of assistance would contain many of the highly effective weapons systems that we have already provided, as well as new capacities tailored to the wider assault that we expect Russia to launch in East of Ukraine. These new capacities include artillery systems, artillery rounds, and armored personnel carriers. I have also approved the transfer of additional helicopters. In addition, we continue to facilitate the transfer of significant resources from our Allies and partners around the world,” Biden said.

According to John Kirby, Pentagon spokesman, Ukraine will be receiving:

• 11 MI-17 helicopters;
• 18 115 mm Howitzers and 40,000 artillery rounds;
• 200 M-113 armored personnel carriers;
• 500 Javelin missiles and thousands of other anti-armor systems;
• 300 Switchblade UAVs;
• a number of radars for air reconnaissance.

“We cannot rest now. As I assured President Zelensky, the American people will continue to stand with the brave Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom,” the US President added.
