A railway echelon with equipment and military personnel has moved from Belarus to the Russian Federation. It should arrive in Matveyev Kurgan on March 4.

The train departed from the Slonim station in the Grodno region of Belarus.

The Community of Railway Workers of Belarus reported this.

The echelon includes 51 railroad cars:

  • 5 passenger railroad cars with the staff of about 250 people;
  • 3 covered cars with equipment;
  • 43 flat cars with equipment.

These are likely mobilized Russian military personnel who underwent training on the territory of Belarus.

According to the information of the Belarusian Gayun monitoring group, the equipment inside includes R-149BMR “Kushetka-B” and R-149МА1 unified command post carriers, two KamAZs, Ural truck, Ural petrol tankers, and an APE-5 moble command post (based on a KamAZ chassis).

The distance from the city of Matveyev Kurgan to the border with the Donetsk region of Ukraine is about 16 km.

Russia continues using the infrastructure and capabilities of Belarus to train its troops.

In early January of this year, about 400 Russian troops were spotted leaving the territory of Belarus. At that time, 48 railroad cars left Belarus: 8 passenger railroad cars (≈400 people), 3 freight cars (with equipment), and 37 flat wagons (with wheeled and tracked vehicles). This echelon was supposed to arrive at the Rossosh railway station in the Voronezh region.

In addition, it was reported that enterprises in Belarus were producing concrete fortifications for Russia. These were the so-called “dragon’s teeth” – concrete cones that Russia uses for engineering fortifications.

Previously, the self-proclaimed president of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, claimed that he is ready to fight on the side of the Russian Federation if “even one soldier crosses the border between Belarus and Ukraine.” Lukashenko considers supporting Russia to be a defense of its own interests.

Ukraine, for its part, continues to build a protective strip at the border with Belarus and the Russian Federation in the north. The strip width will be increased to 2 km, and it will be mined.
