The Ukrainian military inflicted losses on Russian paratroopers and captured POWs in the Bakhmut direction.

The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade reports that they encountered the 83rd Guards Air Assault Brigade of Russia.

“The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade defeated units of the 83rd Guards Air Assault Brigade of the Russian Federation near Bakhmut,” the military said.

Soldiers of the 2nd Assault Battalion liberated more than a kilometer of territory and improved the tactical position of Ukrainian forces in the direction of the city.

A platoon of Russians was completely eliminated and another 10 Russian invaders were captured as a result of the offensive.

“Russian equipment, in particular, an enemy tank, was also destroyed” the military added.

Berkhivka

Also in the Bakhmut direction, the 225th Separate Assault Battalion inflicted losses on the Russian invaders.

Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, showed the Battalion’s soldiers fighting with the Russians near the village of Orikhovo-Vasylivka.

The released video captured a number of Russian soldiers who came under the artillery fire of Ukrainian forces.

“Excellent work of the 225th Separate Assault Battalion in the Berkhiv direction. Our soldiers professionally defeated the Russians,” Oleksandr Syrskyi reported.

The settlement of Berkhivka is located near the occupied city of Bakhmut, therefore this direction from the village of Orikhovo-Vasylivka to Berkhivka is called the Berkhivka direction. The Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also noted that the Russian servicemen are trapped in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, and the Defense Forces are taking the city under fire control.

As previously reported, the Russian military is currently trying to break through Ukrainian defenses near Avdiivka. The Avdiivka direction is considered the hottest from the defense point of view.
