Soldiers of the Defense Forces of Ukraine inflict losses on the Russian invaders in weapons and equipment.
Ukrainian paratroopers “landed” a Russian reconnaissance drone.
To neutralize the enemy Orlan-10 drone, electronic warfare was used.
The Command of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces reported the capture of the Russian UAV. The servicemen released a photo of the drone.
“In one of the mission areas, another Russian Orlan-10 drone was disabled by the Radio-Electronic Warfare units of the military units of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces,” said the statement of the Defense Ministry.
The released photos show that after being affected by the electronic warfare equipment of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces, the Russian drone probably lost contact with its control station and fell, after which it fell into the hands of the Ukrainian servicemen.
In their statement, the paratroopers emphasized that they would continue to carry out combat missions and disable the enemy’s air reconnaissance equipment.
As previously reported, on the eve of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov, called electronic warfare (EW) systems one of the priorities for the rearming of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“We have a huge need to develop what is called electronic warfare and electronic protection. The world is moving towards unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned helicopters, unmanned tankettes, everything is unmanned. Complete robotization is underway. We understand that we need to develop as far as possible in the system of suppression, protection, and surveillance,” the Minister of Defense said.
In November, the Ukrainian army reinforced dangerous areas of the border with the Bukovel-AD R4 EW systems.
The Russian Orlan-10 is a medium-range, multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle. It is used at distances of up to 120 km from the control point. In autonomous mode, it can fly a distance of 600 km.
Its weight is between 14 and 18 kg with a payload of 5 kg. It launches with a special catapult. Orlan-10’s time in the air – up to 18 hours, flight speed – 90-150 km per hour.
