Pakistan’s air defense successfully intercepted a French-made SCALP cruise missile.
The photos were published by Defence Pakistan on the X network.
The missiles of this type were launched from new Rafale fighter jets, which are currently the only carriers of the SCALP missiles in the Indian Air Force.
The Indian Air Force received the SCALP missiles as part of its first contract for French aircraft. Although the exact number of missiles has not been disclosed, Indian military observers estimate it to be approximately 150 units.
The published images of the downed missile show individual parts of the fuselage, as well as the multi-stage BROACH warhead developed by the BAE Systems plc.
This 400–450 kg warhead is designed to ensure high penetration and destruction of fortified targets such as bunkers, command centers, airfields, and other strategic facilities.
The photos also show a French-designed and manufactured turbojet engine, the Microturbo TRI 60-30, from a different angle.
The winged missile was probably launched from a Rafale fighter jet that was shot down on the night of May 7, 2025.
It is worth recalling that the Pakistani Ministry of Defence reported the downing of at least six Indian fighter jets, although only four aircraft were actually confirmed.
To shoot down the Indian Rafale, the Pakistan Air Force used Chinese J-10CE fighter jets equipped with PL-15E air-to-air missiles.
A K-36DM ejection seat, used on MiG-29 and Su-30MKI fighter jets of the Indian Air Force, was also found in the Ramban area of Jammu state.
The use of the latter in the region is reliably confirmed by the fact that the aviation version of the BrahMos cruise missile, of which it is the only carrier, was used.
