The Netherlands has selected Oshkosh Defense to produce JLTV DXPV armored vehicles for its army.
According to Oshkosh, the Dutch Expeditionary Patrol Vehicles (DXPV) version is designed to meet the requirements of the Dutch Marine Corps.
The requirements were described as part of the Future Littoral All-Terrain Mobility – Patrol Vehicle (FLATM-PV) program.
“The Royal Netherlands Marine Corps has decided to equip its forces with the Oshkosh DXPV,” the company said.
The purchase underscores the Netherlands’ commitment to strengthening its expeditionary and amphibious capabilities, especially in challenging coastal environments.
The DXPV is designed to offer improved off-road mobility, speed and transportability, ensuring interoperability with NATO allies.
The JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) program was launched in 2006 as a response to the problems of HMMWVs.
The U.S. Army, Marine Corps and Special Operations Command initiated the JLTV program to develop a family of vehicles that offer greater survivability and payload capacity.
The JLTV family includes various configurations, such as the M1278 Heavy Weapons Carrier, M1279 Utility, M1280 General Purpose and M1281 Close Combat Weapon Carrier, each designed to fulfill specific tactical roles.
The acquisition of the DXPV by the Netherlands marks the entry into a growing community of JLTV operators, including countries such as Belgium, Lithuania, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Mongolia, Latvia, Slovakia, Brazil, Romania and Israel.
The goal of the DXPV program is to replace old vehicles with modern and more reliable ones. As part of the program, the Netherlands held a tender in which several companies participated.
In March, it became known that a Russian company had been supplying untested armor plates for Oshkosh for 2 years.
