A group of Omega Special Forces commandos cleared a multi-story building in Toretsk from the invaders and captured one of them.

The Omega Special Purpose Center of the National Guard of Ukraine’s press service released the footage.

Soldiers of the 4th Separate Detachment of Omega checked every room of the formerly residential building, of which only burnt and dilapidated reinforced concrete structures remained.

The video shows how the team, in complete silence and without unnecessary communication, methodically inspects the floors, actively using grenades and a hand-held grenade launcher, presumably a single-shot M203 or its Ukrainian copy, UGL-40.

“Combat operations in urbanized areas are extremely difficult and risky. After all, the enemy can be anywhere here. In addition, enemy artillery and drones can fire on the building at any time,” the soldiers explained.

Eventually, the enemy infantry was discovered in the basement. As a result of the battle, one of the wounded Russians surrendered, and the rest were eliminated. The video shows the Special Forces communicating with the invader: “You are lucky, you will live.”

In a report by ArmyInform, journalists reported that heavy urban fighting is currently taking place in Toretsk for every position, not only on the ground but also in the buildings themselves.

“The fighting is not just floor to floor, sometimes it is room to room. That is, it is a constant urban battle, it is very hard work,” host Yevhen Nazarenko shared.

Since September 2024, the combined regiments of the Liut Assault Brigade have maintained the city’s defense. The acting commander of the Mansur Regiment stated that the enemy constantly conducted assault operations from different directions: from the north, south, and east. To do this, they mostly used ATVs and motorcycles without armored vehicles. The fighting is taking place in the city itself, where the line of contact runs through the central part of the city.

“A [Russian] motorized rifle brigade is working here, constantly replacing battalion after battalion. We destroy one battalion, and then a second battalion comes through. We destroy it, and the third battalion comes through. Currently, the third battalion is already operating here,” he notes that the enemy is using scorched earth tactics, destroying buildings in front of them with artillery.

The high risk and difficulties with classical building recon have led to a mopping-up tactic on both sides that has evolved into the planting of explosive packages made from heavy anti-tank mines or other devices inside buildings. If a building cannot be held, it may be demolished completely.

Preventive explosions of buildings have been carried out more than once by the National Police commandos and Omega special forces.
