This morning, a fire broke out in the territory of an oil storage facility in the Russian city of Yeysk, Krasnodar region.

Eyewitnesses published the video capturing the incident on social media.

Petro Andriushchenko, Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol, shared the news on Telegram.

The Russian city located on the shore of the Sea of Azov is positioned almost opposite temporarily occupied Mariupol in the Donetsk region – 30 km away across the sea.

“The oil storage is on fire. Apparently, someone also didn’t put out a cigarette there,” wrote Andryushchenko.

He reminded that through this city, the Russians are planning to bring in the ammunition to the Mariupol port.

Petro Andriushchenko noted in addition to the port, Russian Yeysk also hosts a cargo terminal.

“Therefore, such a sudden fire may not be sudden after all,” the Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol added.

In June, an oil refinery caught fire in the Rostov region of Russia. The fire at an oil processing plant originated in the city of Novoshakhtinsk at about 9 am on June 22.

The original ignition started in the heat exchanger at the refinery, and plumes of black smoke spread for several kilometers around the facility.

Later, a video was released online, which featured a likely strike to the refinery with a drone that crashed into an oil processing unit. This region of the Russian Federation borders the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.

Novoshakhtinsk Refinery Plant, which was on fire today, was built in 2009. It is the largest supplier of petroleum products in southern Russia. The company produces fuel oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline.
