Ukrainian tech company Odd Systems has partnered with Denmark’s Terma Group, a major defense contractor and F-35 program participant, to jointly develop an AI-based system for intercepting drones.
The announcement was made on Odd Systems’ official page.
The Kyiv-based manufacturer of uncrewed systems and thermal imaging cameras signed a cooperation agreement with Terma to tap into the Danish company’s expertise in sensor development and integration.
The companies plan to merge their existing technologies into a joint product line designed to counter aerial threats. The envisioned solution is expected to be low-cost and capable of tackling a wide range of drones: from small quadcopters and reconnaissance UAVs to long-range strike drones like the Shahed.
Odd Systems co-founder Yaroslav Azhnyuk said the goal is to create a reliable, autonomous drone interceptor platform powered by AI algorithms.
His company brings experience in FPV drones, thermal imaging systems, and close cooperation with Ukraine’s Defense Forces — expertise it says will help develop a scalable and dependable anti-UAV platform.
Azhnyuk also founded The Fourth Law, a Ukrainian company focused on autonomous targeting systems for strike drones. Its technologies may be used as a foundation for the auto-interception algorithms in the new platform.
Terma Group Vice President Philip Rensch-Jacobsen said the partnership gives the Danish company access to innovative, combat-tested technologies developed in wartime Ukraine, solutions that Western manufacturers would find difficult to match in terms of speed and cost.
Terma is Denmark’s largest defense and aerospace company, with over 2,000 employees worldwide and a portfolio spanning civilian and military markets.
The firm offers technologies that feed into its Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) command and control suite. The system provides automatic detection, threat prioritization, and allocation of air defense assets based on sensor input.
Terma also produces SCANTER Sphera tactical radars, which offer 360-degree coverage and are designed to detect drones even under conditions of enemy jamming.
By combining Terma’s sensor capabilities and Odd Systems’ combat experience, including the Ukrainian-made Horska-12 interceptor drones, the two companies aim to deliver a viable, cost-effective solution for countering UAV threats.
