The United States has presented Iran’s leadership with a 15-point plan aimed at ending the war.
According to The New York Times, the information comes from sources among U.S. officials.
Pakistan played a central role as a mediator, helping deliver the proposal from President Donald Trump’s administration.
According to the publication, the contents of the plan remain confidential, but U.S. officials speaking on condition of anonymity outlined its main directions.
In particular, the document addresses limits on Iran’s ballistic missile development programs and the advancement of Tehran’s nuclear program.
A separate point in the U.S. proposals addresses the security of maritime routes for tankers.
Most likely, this refers to unblocking the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important sea routes for oil transport.
Meanwhile, Iran may have difficulty responding quickly to the U.S. plan, as its senior officials face internal communication challenges and are wary of gathering in one place due to the risk of being targeted.
In addition, it remains unclear whether Israel, which is participating in this military campaign alongside the United States, has supported these proposals.
Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief, played a key role in communication between Washington and Tehran.
It is also reported that Egypt and Turkey are urging the Iranian side to engage constructively within the framework of the proposed plan.
Previously, Trump said he was postponing the promised U.S. strikes on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure due to “very good and productive negotiations on a full and comprehensive settlement.” At the same time, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there is no dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
