Ukrainian manufacturer of electronic warfare systems, Kvertus, will install drone counter systems in armored vehicles manufactured by Ukrainian Armor.

This was reported by Kvertus representatives on the company’s website.

Kvertus has signed a contract with representatives of Ukrainian Armor, which provides for the integration and installation of Kraken electronic warfare systems on specialized Novator armored vehicles.

“From now on, Ukrainian Armor will install KVERTUS electronic warfare systems on its own armored vehicles. As a result, the crews of combat vehicles will be better protected from FPV drone attacks, and thus will be able to perform combat missions more smoothly and effectively,” reads the Kvertus press-release.

It is worth noting that the photo shows a previously published batch of Novator-2 armored vehicles that entered service with the National Guard of Ukraine.

This fact de facto indicates a transition to ordering military equipment equipped with electronic defense systems at the state level by default.

Judging by the photos, the machines are equipped with the Kraken counter FPV F3 station, which comes in 30 and 50W versions. Their cost ranges UAH 350-400,000 per unit.

This device is designed to counter FPV drones in three radio bands. It operates in three frequency bands covering 700-1050 MHz and has six corresponding jamming channels – two per band. These are the frequencies used to control most FPV drones.

The device, weighing about 40 kg, can provide directional or dome protection with omni-directional antennas over a radius of more than 200 meters and can operate for up to 12 hours due to active cooling systems.

The device is equipped with a non-volatile IP-1 field indicator, which allows quick determination of whether the device is causing radio interference in any conditions.

The armored container with the radio jamming station was placed in the aft part of the vehicle. A protected power cable runs from it to the vehicle’s internal network.

According to the General Director of Ukrainian Armor LLC, the installation of electronic warfare systems on armored vehicles was one of the requirements of the customer, represented by the National Guard of Ukraine.

“Novator-2 was made to our order. It was important for us to get an armored vehicle for a combat group, of 9 people. It was a request from the frontline, something the soldiers need today. Each combat brigade of the National Guard will receive such vehicles,” said Oleksandr Bilous, deputy commander of the National Guard.

Ukrainian Armor is also involved in the production of 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled artillery systems.
