The Norwegian Armed Forces plan to train around 3,200 Ukrainian soldiers in 2023.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made the corresponding statement.

Training of Ukrainian soldiers will take place both on the territory of Norway and abroad.

Since the end of April, instructors of the Norwegian National Guard have launched a four-week intensive training of more than 100 Ukrainian soldiers.

Ukrainians are mastering skills of military medicine, fire training and team leadership.

The Minister of Defense of Norway, Bjørn Arild Gram, together with the Acting Chief of the Norwegian National Guard Heimevernet, Morten Eggen, has recently visited the training of Ukrainian servicemen at one of the training grounds.

“We have supported Ukraine with both materials and training, and we will continue to support them as long as necessary,” emphasized the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Norway.

The participants of the visit saw how Ukrainian servicemen practiced combat operations in the trenches and provided first aid on the battlefield under the guidance of Norwegian instructors.

This is the first of several training sessions for Ukrainians in Norway.

In January it became known that Norway would increase the number of instructors involved in training Ukrainian military personnel in international missions, and conduct training on its territory.

Bjørn Arild Gram, Minister of Defense of the country, pointed out that Norway already participated in training the Ukrainian soldiers through Operation Interflex in Great Britain, and also contributed financial support and instructors to the EU’s training mission for Ukraine. In addition, Norway will partake in the Nordic initiative through which several nations would train Ukrainian explosive ordnance disposal specialists.

Training in Norway will complement other training initiatives.
