Norway has provided Ukraine with more than twice the number of F-16 fighter jets than was officially announced.
This information emerges from the recently published annual report on the import and export of conventional weapons.
According to the report, Norway planned to deliver fourteen F-16 fighters to Ukraine, while the official statements had only mentioned six aircraft.
The report does not specify the status of the eight unannounced aircraft. It is likely that these are non-flyable units, which may have been provided for training technical personnel, dismantling for spare parts, or use as decoys.
Similar aircraft, including the rare F-16 ADF variant, have also been transferred by the United States.
This version is partially supported by earlier statements from the Norwegian government, which noted that the country would only deliver operational aircraft that had been retired from service in 2021.
At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that some of the unannounced F-16s have been repaired and restored to a condition suitable for further use.
On May 15, Militarnyi reported, citing the Norwegian government, that all the F-16s promised to Ukraine should’ve been delivered by the end of that year.
The delivery timelines for the unannounced fighter jets remain unknown.
Additionally, the report mentions the transfer of 20 German-made Dingo 2 armored vehicles to Ukraine, as well as two Norwegian engineering vehicles, NM189, built on the Leopard 1 tank chassis.
On May 26, it was reported that the last Dutch F-16 fighter jets designated for Ukraine had left the Netherlands.
Despite the physical transfer of the aircraft being completed, the Netherlands’ involvement in the F-16 program for Ukraine continues. According to the country’s Ministry of Defence, the Netherlands will continue to provide full support — from personnel training to the supply of spare parts, ammunition, and fuel necessary to maintain the aircraft’s combat readiness.
The Netherlands has committed to delivering a total of 24 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The first aircraft from the Royal Netherlands Air Force were transferred in early October 2024, followed by a second batch in February 2025.
Meanwhile, the deliveries of aircraft from Denmark are also underway. In February, Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced that Ukraine had already received 12 of the 19 planned F-16 fighter jets.
The transfer is being carried out in three stages according to a previously agreed schedule.
Additionally, it was revealed in early June that Belgium would deliver two F-16s to Ukraine that year, one of which was intended for parts dismantling. After the Belgian Air Component receives the F-35 aircraft, the country will be able to begin a larger-scale transfer of F-16s.
