The Kingdom of Norway orders 300 TG3 MIL 8×8 military trucks worth over €150 million.
The contract is reported on Rheinmetall’s official website.
The contract was signed on May 31, 2023, in Oslo by Gro Jeare, Director of the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA), and Michael Wittlinger, Chairman of the Management Board of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH (RMMV).
It is the largest single call-off of trucks to date under the framework contract concluded between Rheinmetall, Norway, and Sweden.
The primary purpose of the vehicles is to enhance the transport capacity and operational capabilities of the Norwegian military as part of NATO.
“We see this follow-up order as clear proof of the professional and partner-like cooperation in recent years as well as the compelling performance of our products,” says Michael Wittlinger.
Vehicles are purchased in the following versions: hook loader trucks, special vehicles with cranes, hook loader systems, and trailers and flatracks.
The contract also provides for long-term service assistance.
Currently, Norway is actively using MAN trucks, which form the basis of its logistics fleet.
In 2021, Norway had 190 MAN trucks in service.
The roots of the successful Scandinavian logistic truck project reach back to 2008 when a project group of the Norwegian armed forces drew up a specifications catalog for new military logistic trucks.
In 2013, they signed a contract for the first deliveries of TG and HX series trucks.
