Norway will send bridges to Ukraine to restore traffic in war-torn areas.
The State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (“Ukravtodor”) reported this.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is handing over humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the form of 10 bridges.
The Press Service of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine noted that this regards temporary bridge structures of the acrow/bailey type, which are suitable for the movement of heavy vehicles.
In Ukraine, they will be installed to replace the crossings destroyed during the Russian full-scale invasion.
“These structures will not only connect settlements but will also ensure the delivery of humanitarian cargo, the passage of ambulances, repair teams, and the evacuation of the population,” the statement said.
The bridges, the total cost of which is NOK 30 million, are financed from the humanitarian budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway. They are expected to arrive in Ukraine in January.
On December 13, the prefab constructions of the temporary bridges left the warehouse of the road administration in Bjørkelangen.
In total, Norway will ship 32 trucks with humanitarian assistance.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, two European countries have already transferred humanitarian aid to Ukraine to restore road infrastructure.
The State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine received temporary bridges from the Czech Republic and France. These include 9 metal structures, and some of these bridges were already installed in the de-occupied regions, in particular in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions. Their installation can be completed within a short period of time.
The structures are temporary, and over time, they will be replaced by permanent ones. They will help ensure the constant safe movement of vehicles in different regions of Ukraine.
