The Norwegian government has supported an increase in assistance to Ukraine in 2023.

Dagbladet reported on this.

The country’s government is increasing assistance to Ukraine by $239 million under the Nansen program to reach the $960 million cap in 2023.

“Ukraine now urgently needs more military and material assistance. That is why Norway is expanding military aid to Ukraine by $239 million to $960 million by 2023,” Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Norway, announced.

The country will also increase funding to the NATO Fund in Ukraine. This year, $30 million will be credited to it, and another $145 million will be allocated over five years.

“This is a clear signal of long-term support for Ukraine’s reform efforts, and it will tie Ukraine closer to the alliance,” Jonas Gahr Støre said.

In addition to financial aid, Norway actively supports Ukraine with ammunition and equipment.

The country has already transferred 23 M109 self-propelled howitzers, helmets, body armor, ammunition, and M72 LAWs to Ukraine.

Militarnyi previously reported that on June 15, 2023, Norway and Denmark announced the transfer of 9,000 artillery rounds to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, Norway has already transferred 7,000 artillery rounds from its own stocks.

In total, Norway, together with Denmark, donated 37,000 artillery rounds to Ukraine, not including an additional 9,000.

The artillery rounds can be used in several types of artillery, including the M109 that Norway previously donated, and the CAESAR self-propelled howitzers, which were transferred by Denmark.
