Norway has allocated €590 million for air defense systems for Ukraine.

The Norwegian Ministry of Defence reported on this.

The transfer of the air defense systems will take place jointly with Germany, which will deliver them to Ukraine.

These two countries are financing the purchase of two batteries of American air defense missile systems for Ukraine, including the missiles for them.

In addition to purchasing the American systems, the country is contributing to the acquisition of TRML-4D radars by the German manufacturer Hensoldt and Typhon-2 air defense systems from Kongsberg.

“Together with Germany, we are currently ensuring that Ukraine receives powerful air defense systems. Germany and Norway are working very closely to support Ukraine in its fight to defend the country and protect civilians from Russian air attacks,” said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

It should be noted that recently the Norwegian government announced its readiness to provide additional funding to strengthen air defense in close coordination with Germany.

On July 10th, it was reported that Norway was ready to finance the purchase of one Patriot air defense system for Ukraine.

At the end of June, it became known that the Norwegian government, in cooperation with the company Kongsberg and Ukraine, would fund and develop missiles for the NASAMS air defense system.

A key stage of cooperation with Kongsberg will be the implementation of new projects aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and developing joint defense-industrial initiatives.

The integration of Ukrainian missiles into the Norwegian NASAMS system was first reported in February 2025.

At the time, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace President Eirik Lie confirmed in an interview with Euractiv that the company was establishing a joint venture in Ukraine to expand missile production using Ukrainian technology.

It was about serial production, but the specific type or model of the missiles was not disclosed.
