The Norwegian company Nammo has supplied the Ukrainian military with the latest Scalable Offensive Hand Grenade (SOHG) modular grenades.

Several grenades fell into the hands of Russian occupiers, who published photos of them on the Telegram channel Budni Sapera.

The Nammo SOHG project offers an innovative modular grenade with adjustable power.

Depending on the task at hand, a soldier may need weapons of varying power, and the Norwegian project offers a simple yet effective solution.

A soldier can assemble up to three modules into a single unit and equip them with a common fuse.

The Nammo SOHG modular grenade is based on the design of the HGO 115-3.5 offensive grenade.

The core of the Nammo SOHG grenade is a compact device housed in a cylindrical plastic casing with mounts for the fuse and other modules.

Several such units can be connected together to form a single extended grenade.

The design generally does not prevent combining a larger number of modules into a single charge; however, the manufacturer does not recommend combining more than three modules.

Nammo fills the grenades with Composition B, a mixture based on TNT and hexogen, or with an explosive such as PBXN-110.

In the first case, the grenade contains 115 g of explosive; in the second, 130 g. A tubular channel for the initiation devices is provided inside the charge.

The SOHG grenade module has a total height of approximately 90 mm and a diameter of 53 mm. The product weighs 140 g. The SOHG system is designed to use a standard fuse, which is compatible with all Nammo-developed grenades.

The pin is pulled out using a ‘traditional’ ring. It takes 3.5 seconds from the firing of the striker to the detonation of the grenade.

The flame passes through internal channels in the casing from the fuse to several explosive charges.

Previously, the Ukrainian military also received unique fragmentation grenades m/50 produced in Finland.
