North Korean factories are sewing winter uniforms, underwear and shoes for the Russian military.
This was reported by Radio Free Asia, which cited its own sources.
It is noted that three factories in Pyongyang and enterprises in other parts of the country are involved in this work.
The media emphasizes that such activities violate UN sanctions, which prohibit any export of textile products from North Korea.
“An export garment factory in the Moranbong area of Pyongyang… has been producing Russian military uniforms for about a month,” the source said on condition of anonymity for security reasons.
It is noted that this equipment is used for the Russian military participating in the Russian war against Ukraine. Raw materials for the operation of the enterprise are obtained from the Russian Federation by sea.
According to the Radio Free Asia source, the ready-made uniforms for Russian soldiers will be delivered to Russia by trains through the Nations’ Friendship Bridge to the Hassan station.
Rail freight services on this route resumed on November 2, after a break related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The day before, satellite images of the train crossing the Nations’ Friendship Bridge on the border between North Korea and Russia were released. It’s unknown what kind of cargo it carried.
It is noted that such cooperation will attract foreign exchange revenue to the DPRK. It is also reported that in North Korea the propaganda of friendship with the Russian Federation is increasing.
Sources told RFA that there are many export garment factories in Rason’s Rajinsky district, which borders Russia, that will also sew uniforms for the Russian military. And in the near future, shoes will also be made there.
Recall that the United States believes that the DPRK supplies ammunition to Russia for the war against Ukraine. Pyongyang denies such cooperation with Moscow and accuses the United States of slander.
