Ukraine has already received some weapons from the US within a recently announced military aid package.
The New York Times reported on this.
According to the newspaper, Ukraine has already received the first batch of weapons that were part of a new military aid package from the United States.
First of all, these are 155-mm artillery ammunition, which the Defense Forces of Ukraine need so much on the front line, as well as anti-armor rockets and missiles.
On April 24, 2024, U.S. President Joe Biden signed an aid package for Ukraine worth $60.8 billion.
According to him, after the signing, the weapons Ukraine needs will be delivered as soon as possible to help improve the situation on the front line.
It should be noted that the publication also points out that some new weapons were received by Ukraine before the official announcement of the list of military aid.
Some Pentagon officials say that although the weapons can be transferred immediately, the number of weapons in the units deployed in Europe should be verified beforehand.
In addition to US aid, the publication notes that the previously announced transfer of MIM-104 anti-aircraft missiles from Spain may already be in Ukraine.
It should also be considered that most transfers are delayed due to the large number of documents required to prepare and update lists of available weapons.
Militarnyi previously reported that the U.S. Congress doubled its request for funding to purchase 155mm shells to replace the ammunition supplied to Ukraine and Israel.
The total value of the allocated funding is reported to be up to $6 billion.
