In Ukraine, new photos of the modernization of the T-64 tank to the level of the T-64BM2 tank were demonstrated and new information was presented.

Exactly the Т-64BM2 tank that the Command of the Ukrainian Ground Forces considers the tank of the immediate future.

It is already planned to install a uniform information dashboard for driver instead of traditional sensors: all performance indicators of the tank such as oil-fuel-temperature-speed will be displayed on the screen.

In addition, a view from reare cameras and a map from GPS will be displayed on the screen.

Certainly all that has recently been installed during repair on regular Т-64BV such as thermal imagers, modern means of communication will also be installed on the tank.

From 2022 all tanks that will arrive at the Kharkiv Armored Plant are expected to brought to the level of T-64BM2.

“I say “expected”, because there is no contract for T-64BM2 yet, but T-64BV repair contracts are also not extended because BM2 is expected,” Oleksiy Bobovnikov said.

In Kharkiv, during the upgrade, a thousand-strong two-stroke six-cylinder 6TD diesel engine was installed on the tank. The engine and transmission compartment was completely redone.

The modernization was carried out in close cooperation of the Kharkiv Armored Plant, the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau and the design and technological center of the Ministry of Defense.

The 1G46 sight and other modern components of the fire control system are installed on the tank.

A thermal imaging matrix was installed in the sight, which allowed to extend the target recognition to 3 km at night.

Digital secure communication and navigation system are installed.

For armament, tank obtained explosive reactive armour Knife and anti-cumulative grilles behind.

“The plant’s employees are optimistic about the prospects of the order, so I hope that we will really soon see these vehicles in the troops in sufficient quantity,” Oleksiy Bobovnikov said.

At the beginning of the year, it was reported that the Kharkiv Armored Plant mastered the repair of Т-64BM2.

The first batch of these modernized tanks has already given to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
