Construction of new infrastructure for Geran and Gerbera strike drones is underway at Donetsk Airport.
Relevant Maxar satellite images from March 14, available to Militarnyi, confirm activity at the site.
The photos show deployed cranes and frameworks at two locations within the airport.
At one of the locations, construction is underway on 11 additional structures, likely garages for storing and preparing attack drones for launch.
At the second location, near taxiway C1, it is currently impossible to determine the exact type of facility—it is likely also garages or launch pads.
As a reminder, eight garages disappeared near the launch pads. They were completely removed from the area following a Ukrainian attack in early March.
At the same time, new fortifications were spotted in the airfield area. The occupiers have completed the construction of four concrete bunkers.
Due to the use of concrete and the design features, such fortifications are much harder to destroy with currently available means.
Also, on the night of March 28, drones from the 1st Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck equipment used to launch Geran drones.
During the first strike, operators hit one of the vehicles intended for launching kamikaze drones.
During the second approach, the drone was directed at the vehicle on which the unmanned aerial vehicle had been mounted for launch.
Despite the Defense Forces’ strikes on Donetsk Airport and the destruction of buildings, the enemy continues to use the area for launches due to its proximity to the front line and short flight time.
