The Security Service of Ukraine has identified and neutralized a group that operated in the Donetsk region collecting information about the movement of Ukrainian units in Bakhmut and Toretsk.
The press service of the SSU reported about this.
The detainees are three local women who were recruited through the so-called “Ministry of State Security of the Donetsk People’s Republic” already after the full-scale invasion.
They transmitted information about the locations of power substations and social facilities, such as schools, maternity homes, and student dormitories. This information was needed for targeted shelling of populated areas.
“Employees of the SSU worked ahead of time: timely exposed, documented criminal activity and detained members of the Russian intelligence group,” the SSU reported.
The women received Russian passports in order to travel to the territory of the Russian Federation in case of successful completion of the tasks.
In order to fulfill the tasks of the invaders, they personally went around populated areas and made marks on electronic maps, and then handed them over to the “liaison” in Horlivka.
Then this information was passed on to the curator of the agent network – the deputy head of the so-called “Ministry of State Security of the Donetsk People’s Republic”.
During searches of the place of detention, law enforcement officers discovered computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of correspondence with the invaders. Russian passports were also found.
The three dependants were notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 “Treason committed under martial law” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention.
As previously reported, in Odesa, the SSU detained a couple of Russians who worked for the Russian special services. They collected information on the location of air defence systems and artillery depots.
