The Netherlands will transfer air defense equipment to Ukraine for a total of 15 million euros.
The Dutch Defense Ministry precised that the Netherlands will transfer anti-aircraft missiles for the system, which was already provided to Ukraine by another unnamed country.
Recent Russian assaults on Ukraine have led to the decision to deliver missiles worth more than 15 million euros.
“The government strongly condemns these attacks. In part by disclosing the contribution, the government also wants to send a signal to Russia,” the reports reads.
The Dutch Ministry of Defense does not disclose the type of air defense system to which missiles are supplied.
Presumably, Ukraine will receive missiles for the NASAMS medium-range anti-aircraft missile system, which is in service with the Netherlands.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the NASAMS complexes of the Netherlands use AIM-120B anti-aircraft missiles (AMRAAM).
AMRAAM missiles are the primary air-to-air weapons of all types of modern American military fighters.
The NASAMS SAM became the first ground-based system to use AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles.
The AIM-120B missiles, the first deliveries of which began in 1994, received a new guidance unit.
The missile was able to be reprogrammed directly in the transportation container.
Recall that the Pentagon ordered NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems for Ukraine worth more than $182 million.
