Netherlands to Transfer F-16 Simulators to Ukraine

The Netherlands will transfer F-16 fighter jet simulators to Ukraine for pilot training.

Ruben Brekelmans, the country’s Minister of Defense, announced this ahead of a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, according to Suspilne.

The Head of the Ministry of Defense stressed that this equipment will help the Ukrainian military to effectively operate the aircraft they have received.

In recent weeks, the Netherlands has allocated hundreds of millions of euros to purchase drones and ammunition. This aid is intended to strengthen the Ukrainian army during the current winter.

In the long term, the Netherlands plans to maintain aid at the same level as in previous years. The country expects to allocate approximately 0.25% of its GDP to support Ukraine.

Who else has provided simulators to Ukraine?

In May 2024, the Czech Republic also provided Ukraine with an F-16 fighter jet simulator.

And in February 2025, the Canadian government announced the transfer of two additional simulators to train and maintain fighter pilot qualifications.
