The Dutch Army has performed its first live-fire test of the Israeli-made PULS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), the Netherlands Ground Forces announced on X.
The test took place at the Afsluitdijk training ground, the only site in the country equipped to handle MLRS testing.
A total of 16 rockets were launched, all reportedly hitting the designated impact zone at sea.
The Netherlands received its first four PULS systems in early 2024. An additional 20 systems are scheduled for delivery by 2026.
PULS (Precise and Universal Launching System) is known for its compatibility with a range of munitions, including 122 mm and 160 mm rockets, EXTRA tactical missiles with a range of up to 150 km, and the long-range Predator Hawk with a reach of up to 300 km.
The purchase is part of a broader European effort to expand long-range strike capabilities, including the procurement of ballistic missiles such as ATACMS.
Israel’s Elbit Systems received the €305 million contract in May 2023 to supply the systems to the Dutch Ministry of Defense.
Under the five-year agreement, launchers will be integrated onto the Dutch Army’s Scania Gryphus 8×8 chassis. The first four systems, however, were delivered on Tatra Force 815-7 6×6 platforms for training and reserve use. These will eventually be transferred to Scania chassis as well.
