The Netherlands will spend another €6 billion on military aid to Ukraine from the reserved funds.
Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said that a total of €10.4 billion was initially reserved for military aid.
Of this amount, almost €4 billion has already been delivered in the form of various aid, and more than €6 billion remains to be delivered.
“I see that there are reports that aid to Ukraine will be cut by €1 billion. This is not true. Not one euro less will go to Ukraine,” said Ruben Brekelmans.
He noted that he wants everything to be delivered as soon as possible, “which is why some contracts are signed, for example, in 2024, not 2025.”
“Ukraine is fighting hard and cannot wait. As the Netherlands, we continue to support Ukraine. We are one of the countries that provide a relatively high level of support,” emphasized Brekelmans.
According to him, Ukrainians are fighting not only for their freedom and security, but also for the freedom of Europe.
According to the Dutch Ministry of Defense, the total amount of military assistance provided to Ukraine has reached €3.76 billion to date.
This amount includes the supply of F-16 fighter jets and equipment for them, tanks, artillery systems and armored vehicles.
“It is important for the Netherlands that Ukraine does not lose the war. Therefore, the government considers it very important to continue to support the strengthening of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the Dutch Defense Ministry said.
In general, the Netherlands sends equipment, trains Ukrainian soldiers, and maintains various weapons.
The Netherlands also sent teams of forensic experts to collect evidence of Russia’s war crimes.
