The first tranche of U.S. weapons for Ukraine, to be financed through NATO countries, is estimated at $10 billion, according to Axios, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The NATO-funded package will include missiles, air defense systems, and artillery ammunition.
The move signals a notable shift by U.S. President Donald Trump, who had previously limited support for Ukraine to defensive weapons to avoid escalating the conflict.
Trump also said Russia has 50 days to agree to a peace deal or face “100% secondary tariffs.”
The measure likely refers to restrictions on countries that continue purchasing Russian oil, such as China or India.
A White House official told Axios that if Moscow fails to agree to a ceasefire within 50 days, the U.S. would impose sweeping sanctions and tariff measures.
Militarnyi recently reported that Trump announced the expedited delivery of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.
He confirmed a deal between the U.S. and NATO under which American weapons sent to Ukraine would be paid for by European allies.
According to Trump, the transfer scheme also covers the Patriot systems, which will be delivered “fully equipped with batteries.”
“Some of them will arrive very soon — in fact, within a few days. Several countries that have Patriots are going to ‘exchange’ them, and we will replace them with other systems,” he said.
The U.S. president also claimed that “one country has 17 Patriots ready to be sent,” without naming the country.
