NATO has begun to study in detail the issue of sending its instructors to Ukraine due to the significant advance of the Russian army.
The New York Times reported on this.
Despite discussions with European countries, President Biden’s administration considers this step unacceptable.
The United States believes that this could draw the United States and Europe into the war, and completely refuses to consider this option.
Ukraine’s European partners in NATO are now taking a closer look at sending instructors, which could be another blurring of the previous red line.
This approach, although it could drag Europe into a war, will help Ukraine, according to Western politicians, as the country is experiencing a severe shortage of manpower.
Currently, the shortage of manpower has reached a critical point, which has significantly worsened the position of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield and does not provide sufficient capabilities even for defense.
According to the newspaper, the Ukrainian government has asked the United States and European countries to help train 150,000 recruits for rapid deployment to the front lines.
So far the United States has said no, but Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Thursday that a NATO deployment of trainers appeared inevitable.
In addition, the general is fully aware that the military trainers may be a legitimate target for Russia, which is why the United States must protect them. This, in turn, could draw the United States into a war.
Training the Ukrainian military on the territory of Ukraine would allow for quicker adjustments to training in accordance with changes on the front line.
The Lviv region, near the border with Poland, could be a potential training site for the military.
Militarnyi previously reported that the U.S. was considering sending additional military advisers to Ukraine.
