To meet Ukraine’s needs, some NATO countries have increased the production of Soviet-era spare parts and ammunition.
Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, announced about this.
In particular, Soviet-era military products relate to the strengthening of Ukraine’s artillery, which has many Soviet systems.
According to the NATO Secretary General, some NATO members in the eastern part of the Alliance have the necessary production facilities, which have already increased production.
“Of course, some of these production increases can happen quickly, some have already happened. Others will require more time,” said Jens Stoltenberg.
NATO plans to do even more to ensure long-term investment in additional production lines.
“Sometimes there is a need for new production lines, new capacities, and this requires investments,” said the head of the Alliance.
In November it became known that an unnamed country supplied Ukrainian artillery with new 122-mm shells. Artillery shells are designed for Soviet-made systems.
Jens Stoltenberg also spoke at the briefing about the transfer of drone jammers against Russian drones to Ukraine.
“Through our Comprehensive Assistance Package, NATO has been delivering fuel, medical supplies, winter equipment, as well as drone jammers,” Jens Stoltenberg said.
Recently, the British government has also asked BAE Systems to increase production of 155 mm artillery shells.
