NATO held large-scale Dynamic Messenger 2025 exercises off the coast of Portugal, deploying a significant number of drones to simulate a range of complex scenarios.
According to NATO’s official website, the drills saw the participation of over 2,000 military personnel from 22 countries, who tested more than 260 autonomous and unmanned maritime systems.
The purpose of the exercise was to integrate cutting-edge technologies into the operations of Allied navies.
The systems tested included naval drones, robotic underwater vehicles, mine countermeasure systems, underwater infrastructure protection technologies, and multi-domain command and control systems.
The exercises were conducted for NATO member states; however, 13 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, and South Korea, participated as observers.
Militarnyi previously reported that the largest NATO military exercise involving small tactical drones, called Baltic Trust 25, took place in Latvia.
