Jens Stoltenberg believes that the withdrawal of the russian troops from the territory of Kyiv and Chernihiv regions is not real.
Militarnyi reports about this with reference to CNN.
The NATO Secretary-General also noted that attacks on Ukraine will continue.
“What we see is not a real withdrawal. But we see that russia is relocating its troops, and they are taking some of them back to rearm them, strengthen them, and replenish supplies. We should not be too optimistic as the attacks will continue,” said Jens Stoltenberg.
Stoltenberg stressed that he was concerned about the potential increase in russian attacks in the South and East of Ukraine.
“Thus, this is not a real withdrawal, but merely a change in strategy. Focusing more on the South and the East,” said the Secretary-General.
The changes in the invader’s strategy have previously been reported. In particular, this regards the concentration on the captured Donbas and other Eastern regions before early May.
In his address on April 2nd, Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, stated that the goal of the russian federation at the next stage of the war is to capture Donbas and the South of Ukraine:
“We are strengthening our defenses in the Eastern direction and in Donbas. We realize that the enemy has reserves to increase pressure in the East. What is the purpose of the russian troops? They want to capture both Donbas and the South of Ukraine,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.
Oleksiy Danylov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, noted that russia would strive to end the war by May 9th, so nobody should be feeling “relaxed” now.
