Over the past six months, the Ministry of Defense has commissioned more than 20 light vehicles for use in the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The vehicles are designed to travel over rough terrain and perform tasks on water.

The new models include buggies, motorcycles with electric and internal combustion engines, as well as four- and six-wheeled ATVs and hexacycles.

In addition, a special vehicle for traveling on water – jet skis – has been codified for the needs of defense units.

The defense ministry noted that in 2023, only 7 samples of such vehicles were added to the arsenal of the Defense Forces.

The list of codified samples includes products of well-known manufacturers of all-terrain light vehicles from the United States, Asia and Europe.

It is explained that the range of applications of such vehicles at the front was quite wide.

Light all-terrain vehicles are used to move personnel and cargo in conditions of difficult terrain and lack of roads.

They can also be used to evacuate the wounded, provide logistical support for positions on the front line, and conduct reconnaissance or be used as mobile firing points.

The Ministry of Defense has also codified a domestically produced medical armored vehicle, Kozak-5MED, based on the chassis of the American Ford F-550 pickup truck.

It can transport four lying wounded or six in a sitting position, in addition to the driver and medical evacuation team personnel. The vehicle’s armor protects the crew and passengers from 7.62-mm fragments and bullets.

The codification and approval of Ukrainian-made weapons and military equipment for operation allows all purchases to be made from the state budget for the units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
