On the night of Friday, August 18, the capital of the aggressor state was attacked by a drone.

This was stated by local authorities. Eyewitnesses are also posting photos and videos on social media.

According to Telegram channels, the explosion occurred in the area of ​the Moscow International Business Center. The damage to the Expocenter building was reported as well.

The videos of the eyewitnesses show that a small column of smoke immediately rose at the scene of the explosion.

Minutes before the explosion, a drone was seen in the night sky over Moscow.

On social media the citizens claim that the UAV fell on the roof of the Expocenter and penetrated it. In one of the pavilions, a collapse allegedly occurred as a result of the drone explosion.

At the same time, following the incident, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin issued a statement that Russian air defense forces had allegedly shot down a drone, and it was the wreckage that fell in the area of Expocenter.

He noted that the building allegedly did not suffer significant damage, and according to the preliminary data no one was injured.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also confirmed the fact of the drone attack and traditionally stated that the air target had been shot down.

The Russian MoD said that the drone tried to attack objects in Moscow and the Moscow region, however, “after action it with air defense weapons, changed the flight course and fell on a non-residential building” in the area of Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment of Moscow.

However, it is worth noting that the sounds of a working UAV engine are heard on the published videos, which does not coincide with the statements of the Russians about the alleged downing of a drone and the “fall of debris”. One of the videos recorded a direct explosion after the defeat or fall of the drone.
